Joined the team at Blenheim as Blenheim Rural (J33) Doug Simpson was the boss. Albie Rose was the Havelock man, Reg Wright was at Picton. Bruce Lyon, Peter Wright and Mike Armstrong were the Blenheim Borough M/Cylce patrols. Was promoted in October 1981 to Traffic Sergeant at Nelson.

Transferred back on promotion as Senior Traffic Sergeant. Blenheim now had a staff of 8 plus two civilian clerical staff. A more professional and loyal staff would be hard to find. Some of my staff were : John Pickering (Picton), Graeme Barsanti (Havelock) Phil Robertson, Maureen Rose, Gina Gallop, Doug Jackson, Des Norman. I retained the position and was privileged to be the last ever Senior Traffic Sergeant for the Ministry of Transport at Blenheim in charge of Marlborough Traffic District.The MOT was merged into the Police in July 1992 where I was initially assigned as Senior Sergeant Community Policing and then to the position of Senior Sergeant O/C Station.
